Gail’s Swim for Autism: Burlington Masters Swimmer Conquers Lake Ontario!

A massive congratulations to BMSC's Gail Cryer on an extraordinary and historic achievement!

On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Gail successfully conquered Lake Ontario, swimming an incredible 34 kilometers from Jack Darling Beach in Mississauga all the way to Hamilton Beach.

21 Hours of Determination

Gail completed the grueling marathon swim in 21 hours and 20 minutes of continuous swimming. Confronting open-water elements for nearly a full day requires monumental physical strength and unmatched mental resilience.

She wasn't alone in the water—Gail was backed by a dedicated support crew, including fellow BMSC members Lynn Rogers and Loren King, who helped navigate and keep her fueled throughout the journey.

Swimming for a Cause

Gail’s swim was fueled by a powerful mission: raising vital funds and awareness for the Canadian National Autism Foundation.

The donations from her swim will go directly toward funding practical programs, resources, and advocacy to support Canadians with autism and their families. As Gail’s motto reminds us: “Together we can do hard things.”
